Leicester City Under 18’s remarkable eighth win in nine remarkable games has given them a chance of winning a Premier Academy League title which looked beyond them.

Only an adventurous tactical change enabled City to turn a 2-1 half-time deficit into a 3-2 win over Millwall yesterday.

But in the end two gaols by Andy King and another from full-back Joe Magunda enabled them to move within three points of leaders Aston Villa with a game in hand and two games to play.

This gives City an outside chance of the title although their goals difference is irretrievably inferior.

Coach Steve Beaglehole’s decision to make a triple substitution at half-time and go with an ultra-attacking 2-4-1-3 formation produced a brilliant response from his young charges in gale force winds.

City: Cisak, Smedley, Norval, Lycett, Wykes, Rochester (Magunda), King, Beswick (Turner), Tejan-Sie (McKay), Dodds, Porter.

Amazing recovery – Villa seemed to have the title done and dusted a couple of months ago.
