Today’s Leicester City press conference brought no confirmation of the future role for assistants Mike Stowell and Ray Graydon under newly appointed long-term manager Rob Kelly.

Instead the manager, given a one-year rolling contract, said he would be sitting down after the Easter football to discuss the pair with new chairman Andrew Taylor and the board and to ‘put some flesh on the bones’ on what has happened so far.

Kelly confirmed it was ‘a real hoonour and huge responsibility to be entrusted with the management of such a good club.’

He said of his initial role ‘the important thing was to put out some fires’ but that he would be continuing the vision of former manager Craig Levein ‘which we all bought into’ even though that vision ‘stalled for a period.’

City’s new part-time executive chairman Andrew Taylor, who takes up his post officially from June 1, confirmed that Kelly’s appointment had the ‘unanimous support of the board of directors and vociferous support of the fans’

He commented on the remarkable run of six losses and two draws in the eight games before Levein’s departure and the 24 points from a possible 36 afterwards which has led to Kelly’s long term appointment.
