Foxes fans ridicule ‘guide’ Kamara

Hail Caesar, hail Skysports pundit Chris Kamara – the hero fans say has guided Leicester City through to stability…at least that’s what he says.

Emails from irate supporters in the next few days might persuade him otherwise because the truth is there are few football personalities more revilled among City fans than Kamara.

He took centre-stage a few weeks back when slating Leicester City’s efforts to appoint a new manager, claiming they were going about it the wrong way, unsettling bosses all over the land and even risking the jobs of some.

Lambasted for his initial tirade both by the club and its supporters, Kamara subsequently modified his comments in a damage limitation exercise.

Now he writes in his Skysports column in what is a thinly disguised exercise in self congratulation:

‘Many of you have been crediting me with guiding the club to stability after the things I said in this column some months ago after the dismissal of Craig Levein and Leicester’s search for a new manager.

I would like to take the credit but, in truth, it is Rob Kelly who deserves it.

All I was doing was acting in my role as Coca Cola Ambassador, doing my job.

‘Someone needed to say something as what was going on was unsettling managers elsewhere, like Mike Newell and Ian Holloway, who might have lost their jobs.

‘Leicester did nothing wrong, which is why the Football League didn’t intervene, but it was unsettling incumbent managers, and if I helped to put an end to the speculation, I am happy. But it is Rob Kelly that has sorted it out.

As it happens I have been back to the club since my comments, when Leicester played Reading, and I still get on well with the people there.

I think they respected what I had to say and they said something back. Enough said. They have got a good manager now and give the credit to Rob but I thank the fans for your support.’

Kamara was indeed at the Reading game, waving to the crowd like some self-loving returning hero.

Two fans were seen to ask for his autograph.

And the fans reaction to Kamara’s latest outburst should leave him in no doubt about his general popularity in Leicester…

FROM TALKING BALLS:

Bocadillo has emailed to him:

Chris, I would be pleased if you would provide me with a list of the names of the many people who ‘have been crediting [you] with guiding [Leicester City] to stability after the things [you] said in [your] column some months ago’.

Either they are living in cloud-cuckoo land or you are!

Fosseboy83:

What are on about with your article 13th April with regards to Leicester City??? Do you expect us to swallow that or is it a wind up? where’s Beadle??

Joe 501:

Dear Chris, Please can you inform me how many deranged Leicester fans have been crediting you for guiding the club to safety??What have you done? Nothing, apart from slate our club for attempting to acquire a new manager. Are you going to do the same with England for unsettling Boro, Bolton, and Man City.

Look at yourself in the mirror and try to change from this arrogant ‘pundit’ who knows as much about football as the man in the street.

How can you be so arrogant as to think that you have to put people straight as to the fact that it was not you who saved Leicester City, but the manager Rob Kelly.

Thanks for clearing that fact up, Chris.

Thank you for reading, I hope you can take my comments on board and in your next article answer the questions of the other Leicester fans that I am sure you have received indignant emails from.

On Foxestalk the mood was equally scathing: and among the more printable posts LISA wrote:

‘Dear oh dear, he lives in a fantasy world.

After saying we were breaking rules (which we weren’t) tapping up managers (which we weren’t) and unsettling them (funny that two of the alleged targets got new deals, and a third was dismissed by a chairman who was known to have wanted shot of him), he then takes credit? For what exactly?

The man is a grade a (rude) word. I’m very close to even typing it, despite finding it a cringeworthy word.

At the time of compiling this article, nowhere could a word of sympathy for his remarks to be found. Where have all those praising City fans suddenly gone?
