Internet Bookie Betfair.com have made City manager Gary Megson favourite to take over the Bolton job.

A few months ago with Megson out of a job this would have sounded absurd but after being plucked out of nowhere by chairman Milan Mandaric this is now the reality facing Leicester fans.

How has this happened and why are Bolton interested in Gary Megson?

Megson has made a poor side defensively stable

Ok, we beat Watford 4-1, but apart from that the City side Megson inherited can only be described as poor. Summer signings that promised much have not delivered or been seen (Hellings, Nielsen, Kaebi…) and we are left fielding a mixture between a successful academy side of youngsters and the team built by Craig Levein and later Rob Kelly.

Megson has made sure that although we aren’t playing attractive football, we are not conceding. Indeed with clean sheets in the last 3 games, this could exactly what Bolton are thinking, a manager who can build from the back and steady the ship.

Megson has experience in the Premiership

Ok so he took West Brom down, but he did get them promoted as well which could come in handy at Bolton should the worse happen. He’s used to being in a relagation dog-fight and there aren’t that many managers around who would take the job, I don’t think Paul Jewell would touch it.

Gerry Taggart

Megson’s assistant at Leicester is none other than Gerry Taggart, a popular figure who many think was brought in to appease fans. Taggart has played over 80 games for Bolton….

Megson has no contract at Leicester

Amazingly Gary Megson has no formal contract signed at City, this would make Megson a cheap manager to appoint, leaving funds available for the transfer window.

Will he go or won’t he, the people at Betfair think he will, if he does will City fans even care? His football has been far from attractive but who else is out there that would take the City job? Better the devil you know?
