Just over 6000 people turned up to watch Leicester take on Scunthorpe at Glanford Park.

Leicester turned up for the game with the best defensive record in the Championship so far and it was defenses on top as both sides failed to take their chances as the game finished in a 0-0 draw.

Leicester will probably feel the most disappointed of the two sides, Matty Fryatt having the best opportunity of the match on 68 minutes, his shot from inside the area superbly blocked by Scunthorpe keeper Joe Murphy.

Patrick Kisnorbo will also feel hard done by, heading the Sheehans free kick into the net but having his effort harshly ruled out for offside.

Both City chances came after they were reduced to 10-men. Iain Hume sent off after an hour for his second bookable offense. The Canadian forward was adjudged to have challenged for the ball with a high foot by referee Scott Mathieson.

Hume will serve an automatic one match ban, ruling him out of the game with Sheffield United this Tuesday.

There were few chances in a disappointed match with each side having only 2 shots on target the entire match.

Manager Gary Megson, the subject of speculation over the Bolton vacancy fielded an almost unchanged side from the one which went into the international break with victory over Sheffield Wednesday, captain Clemence replacing Andy King who was injured on duty for the Welsh Under-21 side.

Joe Mattock also picked up a knock with the England U-19s meaning Sheehan kept his place. Sheehan the hero against Wednesday with two goals from corners almost supplied the winner when his freekick was nodded in my Kisnorbo, only this time offside was signalled.

A 0-0 draw then which sees City up to 17th in the league and an impressive 3 games on the spin without conceding. Only two goals however, both from corners, will be a slight concern for Megson.

Megson has so far refused to commit himself to the club and left Assistant Gerry Taggart, who played over 80 times for Bolton, to field the post-match interview.

Taggart on referring decisions
‘It’s not a sending off. Iain has jumped early for the ball and accidentally caught the guy who I think has made a meal of it.

‘We have all seen the replay of Patrick’s goal in the dressing room and he is clearly not offside.

‘Officials don’t have an easy job, but we all know but he was clearly onside.’

Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins:
Maybe it’s a sign of how far we’ve come when we’re is disappointed we haven’t beaten a Leicester side with the millions of Milan Mandaric.

‘I think we forced the issue all the way through the game to try and win it.

‘We’ve kept good possession of the football We didn’t put the ball into the penalty area as well as we could.’
