The fixture list for the forthcoming season has been announced and it will see Leicester playing away on the first day of the season against Luton Town. When the two teams met last season at Kenilworth Road it saw Leicester win 2-1 and come away with a valuable 3pts, after a late goal from Chris O’Grady.

The first home game will be on Tuesday 8th August against Burnley, who finished one place below City last season, even though both teams finished on 54pts. Leicester will be hoping to start off their home campaign with a similar result to last season when they beat Stoke City 4-2.

Ironically both of the managers of these teams were heavily linked with the vacant managers job at Leicester last season, before Rob Kelly was given the position.

Those Leicester fans that relish the local derbies wont have to wait long as Leicester face Coventry away on August 19th. The next two local derbies that Leicester fans will look forward to are also both away against Birmingham City (30th September) and Derby County (25th November).

Leicester fans will have to make sure that they do not drink too much on Christmas day as City have an away game against Hull City on Boxing Day. Now that Peter Taylor has joined Crystal Palace it means that the tension between this fixture will not be the same, but it could still prove a difficult task for Leicester.

The New Year will see Leicester kick it off against recently relegated Sunderland at home, which means it will be a difficult task to start 2007 with a win.

After the opening home game against Burnley, the other home games that have been arranged for a midweek kick off include games against Hull City (12th September), Stoke City (31st October) and Leeds United (13th March).

The final game of the season will see Leicester playing at home against Wolves. The last couple of seasons have seen Leicester travel down to Plymouth and Southampton and so it will make a nice change for Leicester fans not to have to travel far for the last game.
