Reach for the Sky

Leicester will have two games shown live on Sky Sports within a couple of weeks of each other. The opening game away to Luton Town is still on Saturday 5th August but the kick off has been brought forward to 12:30. This could mean that by 14:15 Leicester could be top of the Championship, if only for a couple of hours.

The other game which has been changed is the away match against Coventry. The match was supposed to be played on Saturday 19th August, but has been brought forward to Friday 18th August (19:45).

Although the majority of Leicester fans will be happy with the news that both games are being shown on Sky, some are upset about the re-arranged fixtures.

The early kick off against Luton means that fans will be expected rise extra early if they want to get to the game with time to spare. The City fans that do not live in Leicestershire will have to rise even earlier if they are to make the kick off.

Then there is the Coventry game, the games between the two teams are always full of passion with both sets of supporters getting behind their teams. However, with the short distance between the two teams there is always a bit of fierce rivalry between the fans.

This makes the decision to change the game to a Friday night kick off when there is a possibility of trouble even more baffling. It is just another case of football games being changed to suit the demands of television rather then thinking about the fans travelling or the possibility of trouble.

Unfortunately it seems to be the case the Sky can hold clubs to ransom on what time games are to be played. It shows that television has become the important factor in football rather then the fans.

Let`s just hope that come the next morning the local newspapers will be concentrating on the two teams performances rather then what has happened off the pitch

I find it’s really annoying when sky can just do what they like to kick off times. They should consult the club, and pick a time which is best for everyone.

Spot on with that article mate. I’m a Coventry fan but live in Sheffield nowadays so the Friday night is virtually ruled out unless I take time off work.
