After a fantastic midweek win in the League Cup, City return to action in the league against a Stoke side who have made a good start to their Championship campaign.

The clash will see Megson and Taggart, now at City pit their wits against Tony Pulis and a Stoke City team that used to employ them both before their move to the Walkers.

Stoke City have started this season as they finished the last, finding themselves in 5th place currently with only 1 defeat from their last 14 league games, 7 of which have been this season.

Leicester on the other hand find themselves in an all too familiar position at the bottom of the Championship despite Milan Mandaric’s involvment and some substantial summer transfer activity, City have only recorded one League win all season and Megson will be hoping to record his first League win at his 3rd attempt.

Vital Quotes:

City captain Stephen Clemence was understandably delighted with the midweek win over Villa saying ‘Our midweek scalp at Aston Villa has given us all a huge lift especially after the disappointment a few days earlier down at Charlton, and if we continue to perform like that then I’m sure we’ll win more matches than we’ll lose.
Personally, I thought the lads were outstanding on Wednesday night; everyone, including the subs that came on, played their part and not many teams will go to Villa Park this season and win.’

Leicester City Team News:

City have no new injurys following their midweek match against Villa. Elvis Hammong and Marco Ferreira were injured in the reserve match on Monday and remain doubful, Wesolowski is out with a long term injury for at least another month

Player to watch: Matty Fryatt

Matty Fryatt is back from exile under Gary Megson, and his midweek goal will have helped his confidence no end. Let’s hope he can continue to build on his recent performances and rediscover his form with strike partnet Ian Hume.

Stoke City Team News:

Belgium defender Richie de Laet could make his debut for a Stoke side struggling with injuries at present and without Clint Hill. Dominic Matteo and Stephen Wright are expected to return but the game may come too soon for Carl Dickson and Demar Phillips

Player to watch: Liam Lawrence

The Stoke midfielder opened his account for season in the win against Plymouth and will be hoping to play a big part in combating what could be a 5-man Leicester midfield on Saturday.

Match Facts & Stats

Gary Megson and Gerry Taggart, now manager and assistant manager at Leicester have both worked at Stoke under manager Tony Pulis.

Taggart made over 50 appearances with Stoke, since moving from the Walkers Stadium. He then went on to take up a coaching role at the club.

In the last 2 seasons the home team has always won the fixture between the two sides with City winning 2-1 and 4-2 and Stoke winning 4-2 and 3-2.

Match Prediction:

Recent history would suggest a high scoring game and I would like to think that we will take the confidence from midweek and get a positive result. Any win would be good but I’m going for a confidence boosting 3-1.

This is where it counts, in the League. If we are going to improve this season we need to start picking up wins especially at Home
