Milan speaks out over Allen

Milan Mandaric went into further detail this evening over the brief reign of Martin Allen at Leicester City football club. Here are some of the key points

Little was known on the reasons behind Martin Allen’s departure from Leicester after only 4 games this season. Allen’s last league game was a 4-1 thumping of Watford, so his dismissal within a week of that result came as a shock to some City fans.

City voiced their disapproval in the League Cup tie against Forest, a move which anagered chairman Milan Mandaric and forced him to meet with fans tonight to try and unite the club and explain his actions.

Here are some of the key points to come out of the meeting.

Why did Allen go

Ok this is the biggy, not much light shed on this one, but it was non-footballing reasons. Read into that what you will

Who on earth bought all these useless players? Nielsen????

Ok, many players have came in during the summer, some have been very average and some have not been seen at the Walkers since signing, so who’s fault is that?

It was said that Nielsen, Kishishev, Sappleton and probably DJ Campbell were Allen signings, of those only Kishishev had been scouted before signing! Of course Allen knew Campbell well before from previous clubs but a flop of a goalie Nielsen, was recommended by Peter Schmeichel, now Casper Schmeichel would have been ok, but Casino Jimmy was so bad we had to go out and get Fulop in on loan.

All players were signed with Allen’s knowledge, (note not necessarily consent) with the exception of Bruno N’Gotty a Milan signing.

Matty Fryatt

Allen was reported not to take to young Fryatt and he was even made to train with the youth side. Fryatt was missing from the first team squads for much of the season early on, before returning under Megson, grabbing his first goal against Villa last night.

Forest incident with Clive Clarke

The Forest incident had nothing to do with Allen’s departure, infact Allen knew he would be going before Watford apparently, with the 4-1 making things even more difficult for Milan. So that’s 3 league games before Milan decided to get rid, crikey!

Fans

The fans who turned up explained that their signing was not anti-Milan but bourne out of confusion behind Allen’s departure and frustration with the poor Forest and Charlton performances.

They did however move to criticise recent comments from Milan in the press such as his Leicester Mercury article where he vented his feelings at the travelling supportes who went to the City Ground.

The Future

Milan left the meeting having won over the majority of attendees with a show of hands and support. It appears that any differences have been partly resolved which is good for the club going forwards.

His warning that he would act again should the manager not be up to scratch may worry some, with further turmoil and instability unlikely to benefit the club in the short term.

Altogether a positive meeting I feel and one which can only help relations between the fans and the management of the club.

Having said that what matters is performances like last night over performances like tonight. Lets see some results on the pitch and lets all get behind the players and manager and look forward to a good season!

Comments are welcome, forum and comment boxes are the places for it. Did you go?, have I missed something? (possible), pleased with Milan’s response or did he duck too many?

Nice to be able to pose the questions to Milan, although he didn’t answer everything he did bring forward more information than was out there already.

Do be careful not to mix up Milan’s “truth” and reality. His meeting he could say whatever he likes. I dare say if you asked Allen he’d give you a completley different version of events.
