Manager Nigel Pearson has said he’s confident that we can cause Manchester City plenty of problems later this evening but we have to be at our best to do so.
Speaking to lcfc.com ahead of the kick off later tonight, Pearson explained that we had put in enough good performances and troubled enough of the top sides this season to have the confidence to know that we can cause an upset and make life difficult for the reigning Premier League Champions but that it will only happen if we are completely on the ball with our showing.
With Leicester searching for our first league win since January 10 against Aston Villa, he explained.
‘They’ve got a very talented squad, let’s put it like that. There’s always going to be scrutiny on the big sides. People have told me that they’re in a bit of a sticky spell but a sticky spell for them isn’t a sticky spell for us. Success is relative. They have two players for each position and they have quality there.’
In acknowledging the threats that they carry the gaffer goes on to say.
‘I would also like to think that they would be aware that we have some dangerous players. We have to show on the day not just that we’re a capable side, but we’re a side that’s not going to go anywhere and lie down. That’s something that’s important to me and the players.’
Knowing a victory would be a huge boost to confidence again and building on his earlier words that we aren’t in a position to consider this match a bonus game, he went on to say.
‘A win would keep the morale high. All I can do is concentrate very much on ourselves. We’ve got to be at our best and us at our best will hopefully cause them some problems. We need to start picking up some scrappy results as well as keep playing well.’
