Right back Danny Simpson has said that he believes the fact we should’ve come out with all three points from Everton means that Leicester have turned a corner in our battle against relegation as we go into tonight’s clash against Manchester City.

As we look to close the gap that’s built ahead of us in the Premier League table, Simpson explained to lcfc.com that he felt our overall performance in the last game and the fact that really we should’ve come away with maximum points shows that there has been a change in the squad’s fortunes this season.

‘He’s (Pearson) probably tired of coming off at 90 minutes and hearing the opposition manager saying he was unlucky. You don’t play to be unlucky, you want to win. We want to play good football and put in good performances, but it’s getting to that time now where we need to win more and put points on the board. But I think, going back to the Everton game, there have been games like that this season where we would have lost. Hopefully it’s a turning point.’

Going on to echo everybody else at the time in saying conceding the late goal made it feel like a loss after the game, Simpson went on to say that there were plenty of positives highlighted in training from the match though and that’s what we’ll be trying to build on in just under two hours.

‘We were close to winning. It’s no different going to Manchester City. The manager wants us to win every game and this will be the same.’

Simpson also spoke about the back five formation that we’ve been using in recent times and he feels it’s suiting us well, and our performances are reflecting that – but again it’s about the points.

‘It’s worked out without us working too much on it. The players that we’ve got seem to have taken to it pretty well. Obviously in the Arsenal game we played pretty well, and the Everton game too. I think we’ve got he experience of the three players, Wes, Matty, Rob and Schwarz, then me and Konch will run and put in 100% for the team.’
