Manager Nigel Pearson has given his pre game press conference for Wednesday evening and said now is the time to get results irrespective of performances.

Having spent a lot of the season being praised for how we’ve performed in games, and feeling that we’ve come out of many of them not with the result that we deserved, Pearson explained that whilst normally people would view a game against a side like Manchester City as a bonus game for a club with the aim of survival – he feels it’s vitally important we get something from the match, because we don’t have any bonus games left that we can coast through not being worried if we get nothing from it.

In quotes carried by the Leicester Mercury the gaffer explained.

‘Before a ball is kicked in a season, people would look at a fixture list and say it is a bit of a bonus game. But we can’t have too many bonus games now, we haven’t got enough points for that. It’s an important game for us and I want us to perform well again, but we need to start picking up some scrappy points as well. If we got something from the game it would keep the morale high, I am sure.’

With us having a free weekend, other results mean that we are five points off safety at the bottom of the Premier League table and that’s something we need to quickly address with games running out at pace now.

For Pearson it’s not about other results doing favours for us though, we simply have to start doing ourselves favours.

‘You can’t hide from the fact that sometimes results will go for you and sometimes not, but let’s not kid ourselves, from here on in, what will define our season is our own results. You still have to get enough points yourself and, so far this season, we have not done that. Clearly that has to improve to give us a chance of getting out of the situation we are in.’
