Full back Danny Simpson has said it’s hard to gauge what kind of Manchester City we will face on Wednesday evening.

It’s been a bad week for the reigning Premier League Champions with a loss to Barcelona in the Champions League and the a loss to Liverpool, given them an unexpected record of two wins in nine games across all competitions, but speaking to lcfc.com Simpson said it could go either way really, it might be a great time to play them or we might play them with them being determined to bounce back.

‘Obviously everyone prepares the best we can for any game, but we know that Manchester City have great players and are a great team. At the same time it’s nice to go to the Etihad and places like it because it’s why we’re in the Premier League and I’m sure the fans will be looking forward to it as well. For us, the manager will be preparing us the same as any other game.’

Speaking more specifically on their last two results and their recent run of form he explains.

‘It could go either way. It could make them think they need to put a performance in and get a good result, or make them feel a bit under pressure and we could get into them, put pressure on them and unsettle the crowd. It could go either way but we just have to stick to our game plan and do the best that we can.’

Simpson goes on to say that the danger with Manchester City is, given the players they have, they don’t have to play particularly well in order to find one moment of magic, score, and take victory because they have proven that before over the years.

When it clicks for them, it clicks quickly and usually they make teams pay in that moment and we have to be at our very best to be ready to cope with that.
