Matty Fryatt hails Leicester City’s Blue Army as he speaks of life in League One. The Foxes striker also quashes rumours about his summer weight loss!
There’s been quite a bit in the press about me losing weight for the new season. The way things have been written it was as if I was on a binge all of last season! But I wasn’t overweight and I didn’t go on a diet as such. I think I said I’d lost weight in an interview and it was taken out of context a bit. I wanted to look after myself and train as best as I could over the summer, then focus on our games. My attitude and performances have shown that in pre-season.
I got two goals in our opener against MK Dons last weekend and it was a relief to get off the mark so early on. It was important for the team, the club and the fans that we got off to a good start to begin putting relegation behind us.
I never expected to see so many fans at the game, but there were almost 24,000 there. It was staggering. I don’t know what the other players were thinking but when I was looking around I couldn’t believe my eyes. The atmosphere was great and there weren’t many spare seats. The fans made their contribution and as a result the whole team was lifted. It all helps and to have them behind us, no matter what’s gone on, is really touching.
