Kisnorbo: ‘I didn’t want to go’

Released Leicester City centre back Patrick Kisnorbo has spoken out after the disappointment of failing to earn a new contract at the Walkers Stadium.

The defender told the Leicester Mercury, ”Just tell the fans I didn’t want to go. I’m very disappointed to have been released. I thought I was still good enough for the team, but the gaffer said he had other plans.It’s sad. He said he has got his own players and I have to respect that decision – it’s his choice.’

The defender, 28, was voted City’s player of the year twice in his four year tenure with the club since joining from Hearts in 2005. After first experiencing a torrid time as a central midfielder, the player moved to centre back, where his performances earnt him hit status amongst the Walkers faithful.

However, since a cruciate ligament injury against Sheffield Wednesday at the tail end of Leicester’s relegation season in 07/08, Kisnorbo has fallen down to fifth choice in Nigel Pearson’s pecking order, behind Aleksander Tunchev, Jack Hobbs, Michael Morrison and Wayen Brown.

It is harsh some would say, for a player who is now attracting the interest of Crystal Palace and Ipswich if media reports are anything to do by.
