Bristol City boss, Keith Millen, has told their Official Website
that he’s pleased the board have turned down an offer for the player, but he didn’t go as far as to name which club.

With Nottingham Forest and Southampton said to have enquired, the bid is most likely from us and that’s how the press are treating it.

The offer is also said to be in the region of £3m.

Millen said.

‘I’m glad the new board are staying strong and I’ve said before I don’t want to lose Nicky. I want to build for next season. Our stance is that we want him to sign a new contract, the board are strong and sticking to that.’

City acquired Maynard for £2.25m I believe so with him entering the final 12 months of his contract it’s a strong position to take if the £3m report is correct and they aren’t sure he will sign a new contract. That said there’s no better way of maximising any potential transfer fee is there!

Their chairman Colin Sexton added.

We had a direct offer from one club which we rejected, and informal enquiries from two other Championship clubs. It means people are circling and I don’t expect this will be the end of it.’
