Leicester City striker DJ Campbell has declared his intention to leave the club in the summer, following his relatively successful loan spell at Blackpool.

The 27 year-old has spent three months at the Seasiders since joining Tony Parkes’ men back in January. In his time with the club, Campbell has scored 8 goals in 18 appearances for Blackpool, becoming a hit with the fans in the process.

‘It has been good at Blackpool and I have enjoyed my time here. The lads have been superb, the management have been great and the fans have been terrific as well. It is a lovely little club and obviously if we sit down in the summer … well, we’ll see what happens. I don’t want to go back to Leicester though – anything apart from that.’

Campbell joined Leicester for £1.6 million from Birmingham City in the summer of 2007, but only managed a paltry 4 goals in 35 league appearances for the club.

With this, the striker has now given Blackpool the go-ahead to make their move, with the Seasiders clear favourites to sign him.

Would Blackpool really be interested though? I seem to remember they already had a big dipper last time I went.
