Davies deal on the rocks

Curtis Davies’ loan move to Leicester looks set to be scuppered after Birmingham launched a late bid for the Aston Villa centre-back.

Davis himself revealed he was on his way to re-join the Foxes on loan, joking on his Twitter page how he would have to “weights” Yakubu in training for taking his former squad number.

But despite admitting he would be on his way to “re-join Sven’s Leicester revolution”, Davies now looks set to hop across the Birmingham divide to the Blues.

Alex McLeish is resigned to losing fellow defender Scott Dann for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, and is keen to add Davies to his ranks to cover for the young centre-back.

Davies had made no secret of his desires to find another Premier League club in the transfer window, but looked set to hook up with the Foxes when interest from Stoke failed to materialise.

A loan move to Celtic looked to be on the cards, but FIFA rulings halted the move to the SPL giants.

And Sven-Goran Eriksson’s hopes of capturing the former West Brom defender now look slim as Davies looks set to realise his Premier League aspirations once again.
