Manager Steve Cotterill has left Burnley by mutual consent just 2 days before their visit to The Walkers to play Leicester City.

City are still looking for a manager themselves and this latest development will fuel speculation that Cotterill, an ex-Leicester employee has left Burnley with the City job in mind.

Cotterill was part of the management team under Micky Adams before joining Burnley as manager. He has been linked with taking the manager’s job at Leicester before but as not appeared on any of Milan’s shortlists.

Is Cotterill City bound? Who knows, he doesn’t seem to fit in with Milan’s other shortlisted managers who tend to have experience in both this League and the Premiership.

Whoever the new City manager, if indeed one is appointed by the weekend, they look set to have to deal with a Burnley side that may have a spring in their step as the players look to impress any future boss.
