Cheltenham 0 – 4 Leicester

City were rampant against a poor Cheltenham team on what turned out to be a wonderful day.

Leicester won away from home and broke the duck of 2 league wins in a row. Local rivals Derby and Nottingham Forest were hammered whilst bitter rivals Coventry also suffered a defeat. This victory takes City to the top of League 1 on Goal Difference and now the Foxes are only 1 place behind Derby *cough*.

I’m not going to bore you, I’m going to give you the straight-forward significant moments in the game:

3rd MINUTE: GOAL! A Steve Howard flick-on is followed up by fellow striker Matty Fryatt who’s shot is pushed away straight into the path of the on coming Lloyd Dyer who blasts the ball into the roof of the net.

HALF TIME: A dominant City fail to take some chances but will be happy enough with a 1-0 lead going into the break.

54th MINUTE: GOAL! Following a run by Fryatt, the ball breaks to captain Matt Oakley who slots the ball past the Cheltenham keeper from 25 yards out.

73rd MINUTE: GOAL! WHAT – DISALLOWED! City have a goal disallowed after Howard put the ball in the back of the net. The Referee ruled this out much to the disbelief of the City striker and manager Nigel Pearson.

77th MINUTE: GOAL! After Howard had been fouled on the edge of the box, several City players fancied their chances, but it was Fryatt who stepped up and placed it past the poor Cheltenham goalkeeper with a thunderbolt of a shot.

80th MINUTE: GOAL! City are on fire! A great individual effort from Dyer very much finished off a below-par Cheltenham side much to the delight of the travelling Blue Army.

FULL TIME: City come away from Whaddon Road with 3 points safely in the bag and with a big smile on the faces of all City fans around the world.
