Leicester chief Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed that Yakubu is likely to join the club permanently if they reach promotion to the Premier League.

The Everton striker has spent almost two months on loan at the Walkers Stadium, hitting 4 goals in his 7 appearances for the club so far.

And Eriksson believes the powerful Nigerian is likely to remain in the East Midlands should his Foxes side perform the unexpected.

“I’m quite sure if we go up that Yakubu will stay, and he wants to,” the Swede said.

Meanwhile, the Foxes boss also admitted that he will make attempts to keep hold of the club’s other loan stars in the summer.

Eriksson admitted he would like to sign them all if possible, but concedes that the task ahead is a difficult one.

“I should like to buy them all as they are very good for the club,” he declared.

“Firstly, I have to discuss things with the players and then the chairmen of their clubs (Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City) which is even more difficult.

“Some have said it will cost us a lot of money to buy them but I already know that.

“We will wait a couple of weeks and then start to see where we are.”
