Leicester will come up against a former player tomorrow in the form of Riccardo Scimeca. The ex-City player will probably be stand in captain for Cardiff, due to Darren Purse struggling with a back injury.

Scimeca joined Leicester from arch rivals Nottingham Forest on a free transfer at the start of the 2003/04 season. Leicester had been promoted the season before and were looking to avoid relegation.

The signing also delighted the majority of Leicester fans as Forest were losing one of their best players for nothing.

During the 2003/04 season Scimeca made 30 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 1 goal against Wolves, When Leicester were 3-0 up only to lose 4-3.

At the end of the 2003/04 season, City were relegated from the Premiership and Scimeca would find himself on the way to West Brom for £100,000.

Once again he was joining a team that had been promoted to the Premiership and were looking to avoid relegation. For all the disappointment Scimeca might have felt with being relegated with Leicester, he felt the exact opposite with West Brom as they maanged to be bottom of the Premiership Christmas day, but still avoid relegation. The first and only team to do so in the Premierships history.

In total Scimeca played 33 games for West Brom over a season and a half before he moved to Cardiff City in a free transfer during the 2006 January transfer window.

Since joining Cardiff he has played 46 games for the Welsh team and has managed to add goal scoring to his skills by netting 6 for the club, including 5 this season. Before joining Cardiff he had only scored 10 goals in his entire career.

Although Scimeca was an ex-Forest player, he was always cheered by the City faithful and although he only played a handful of games for the club, he always gave 100% and can probably expect a polite round of applause from the City fans tomorrow.
