It was being reported late last night that Riyad Mahrez was now a target for Italian Serie A side Roma.

With speculated moves to Barcelona and Arsenal in particular going nowhere at the minute, Sky Italy were reporting that Roma had now made contact with the players agent over the possibility of doing a deal.

The Algerian international joined us back in January 2014 for a snip fee, and having helped us to promotion into the Premier League he more than played his part in helping us to stay there and in our journey to Premier League Champions.

Sticking with us for the Champions League campaign last year, Mahrez has made no secret that he believes he has an agreement to move on with our owners this summer but that doesn’t mean we will deal at a price below our valuation, especially given the new bumper contract he signed.

As covered previously, Click Here manager Craig Shakespeare said that Leicester had not received a single offer so far for the player but did concede any offer would be discussed by the board given the circumstances or Mahrez’s statement to the media earlier this summer, so now we see if anything comes of Roma’s interest?

I suspect Roma won’t be able to meet Leicester’s valuation.

I’d be surprised with talk of £35-50million being bandied around. Juventus and that sort of Italian side you’d more associate that kind of spending power with.
