Manager Nigel Pearson has admitted that Bournemouth made us work extremely hard today for all three points.
Speaking to lcfc.com after watching Leicester hit a goal in each half to take all three points, the manager explained that Bournemouth proved to be the exact test he expected them to provide, but thankfully we had enough about us to take the win.
‘It’s about winning so I’m very pleased that we’ve got the three points today. I think we deserved to win. It was a tough game because they’re a decent side, but it got a little bit frustrating with the timing of their equaliser knocking us out of our stride a little bit. I think in the second half we totally dominated, but we had to earn it today. It wasn’t the easiest game for us, they’re a decent side and they certainly didn’t disappoint in terms of how they set up and worked.’
With how difficult it was on the day, Pearson is even more delighted to have kept our run going and it just proves that you have to work extremely hard to get results in this division. Pleasingly we showed we have that ethic, and if we take that into games that will be easier for us, it will definitely bode well for the future.
When the sticky patch comes, that work ethic will help see us through.
The only thing Pearson would’ve liked us to improve on, was in keeping another clean sheet, but you can’t have everything can you!
Whilst we didn’t move to the top of the table following the win, we are sitting nicely in second place and building up a nice little buffer on those in the Play Off spots, which is pleasing as the league starts to separate itself now.
