Manager Nigel Pearson has named the 25 players who will spend the first half of this season trying to ensure our Premier League survival.
In the Premier League you are limited to a squad cap of 25 players, eight of which must be homegrown as no team can name more than 17 non homegrown players.
However anybody U21 doesn’t have to be named, and can be called upon during the league season.
A homegrown player is a player who has spent 36 months (non consecutive) in an Academy in England or Wales before their 21st birthday.
The 25 man squad is formalised at the close of the transfer window, an the squad can be changed again in the January window.
