Newport County believe that Bignott has done well during his trial at Leicester, and have admitted they wouldn’t stand in his way should we wish to make a move for the player.
The 25 year old defender has made a good name for himself at Newport and made his debut for England C when he came off the bench in their 1-0 win over Belgium back in February.
Newport gaffer Anthony Hudson said of the player.
‘Paul is a fantastic player, but if he’s got the chance to play Championship football, we’d never, ever want to deny him that.’
Tim Harris, Director of Football added that no deal has been agreed and that he wasn’t expecting immediate contact given where we find ourselves in the season.
‘Nothing is concrete at this stage, we gave Paul permission for a trial and by all accounts he did very well. If or when the bid comes, we will negotiate to make sure the deal suits us, Leicester and Biggy.’
