Man City Build Up

With tomorrow edging nearer and a game at home against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup quarter final on offer for fans, obviously people are getting excited.

First up and talking to Sky Sports ahead of the game, manager Nigel Pearson has said that Leicester can simply go out there, enjoy the occasion and but importantly use it as an opportunity to show what we can do.

The pressure will be all on City, so we’ll be going out there looking for an upset.

‘It’s an opportunity, City are an excellent side with an exceptionally strong squad, but we have to go into it with the freedom to go and play. I expect our players to go out there and make it exceptionally hard for Man City. I don’t think it’s one of those where we’ll ‘just’ try and enjoy the occasion. We’ve worked hard to get this far, and I want our players to go out there with drive.’

Obviously Pearson knows that with Cup competitions the stand alone nature of them leaves upsets open, so you can never guarantee anything, but he’s not daft he knows we will have to be at our best because it will be tough.

Liam Moore has also been talking to lcfc.com and echoed the thoughts of the gaffer in saying that we will have to be 100% at our best if we want the chance to cause an upset and secure a final four spot in the Cup for the first time since 2000.

‘We’ve got to see it as another game and if you’re not involved then you can’t get too down because you might get thrown in again on Saturday. It’s a great fixture for the fans, these are what players look forward to. We’re definitely not going into the game thinking that we’re not going to get anything from it. We’ll give everything we’ve got.’

Moore points to the effort and desire shown by the players in the recent Burnley game and he believes that will be the same level of commitment that the players will put into this game because we don’t want to let ourselves down.

‘I thoroughly believe we can beat them.’

Ritchie De Laet also believes that it will be just another game, because names are names and at the end of the day it’s 11 v 11 and we know what we are capable of performing like but it’ll also provide a good test for us given our promotion ambitions.

For De Laet the main topic of conversation for his interview was his return to action following injury, and as you’d imagine the player was very delighted with the shift he put in against Burnley and he’s hoping he’ll get many more minutes now in the future so he can start playing his part in our season again.
