The Nigel Pearson era kick off with him taking his Leicester charges to the Marston’s Stadium, home of Hinckley United, for our traditional first pre-season friendly and we came away with a 5-4 victory.

Pearson named a 29-man squad, in a match in which he named a different XI for each half, with the first half’s starting XI being Logan, Gilbert, Rowe-Turner, Magunda, N’Gotty, King, Adams, Oakley, Howard, Campbell and Dyer. We took an early two goal lead through Steve Howard and one of our summer signings Nicky Adams but Hinckley came back and a double from Gez Murphy and another from Adam Webster, which saw them ahead 3-2 at half time.

The second half saw Henderson, Cox, James Chambers, Worley, Morrison, Wesolowski, Gradel, Kishishev, Fryatt, Odhiambo (replaced by Porter 72) and Ashley Chambers turnout. Max Gradel levelled the scores soon after the break but another from Webster restored Hinckley’s lead again. Matty Fryatt’s penalty brought us level before Ashley Chambers scored the decisive ninth goal.

Following this most exciting and worthwhile opening pre-season fixture we now travel to Slovenia for our five-day training camp.

That must have been some game. The sort where Alan hansen would bemoan the defences

Apparently all of the new signings had good games, aswell as both of the Chambers’, Kishishev, Worley and Porter making a good comeback.
