Leicester’s Premier League season continued with a three-two win against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday with this win ensuring the Foxes will be top at Christmas, which is in contract to last season when they were bottom on Christmas day last time round!

Such an achievement makes them the first side in Premier League history to manage this but how much longer will this remain the case….

The breakthrough was made by Leicester when Ramiro Funes Mori pulled back Shinji Okazaki with a penalty awarded, which Riyad Mahrez made no mistake with but Romelu Lukaku soon had Everton level.

Midway through the second half, when Everton ‘keeper Tim Howard fouled Jamie Vardy, Leciester had another penalty. Again this was converted by Mahrez with Okazaki making it three-one four-minutes later to leave the Foxes in control.

Kevin Mirallas scored a last minute goal to give Everton hope but it wasn’t enough to deny Leicester top spot, which will be retained whatever the outcome of the Arsenal v Man City game tomorrow.

These were the other results.

Chelsea quite possibly, some would say probably, would have beaten Sunderland as they did anyway with the post-Jose Mourinho era beginning with a three-one win for the Champions at Stamford Bridge but it’s Leicester (as we know), who beating the Blues that ended his second spell, that will be top at Christmas after a three-two win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth did Man United the week before and this time round they won again with a two-one win at West Brom, the ‘surprise’ defeat United suffered at Bournemouth last Saturday was most definitely bettered by Norwich’s shocking of the Red Devils at Old Trafford with the Canaries going away with a two-one win!
