Kelly ‘shocked’ by sackings

Leicester City manager Rob Kelly has revealed that the window of his own opportunity was severely clouded by the deparure of Craig Levein and his other working colleagues last January.

He remembers it as ‘a bad day’ and one when people lost their jobs rather than others getting one.

The comments, revealed on the Leicester Mercury’s Blue Army website, show a genuine sensitivity and will further endear him the growing army of followers he forever involves and acknowledges.

Indeed he stressed the working class background of his own upbringing and after remembering how his own father lost his job when the car industry collapsed said it was a shock to see his own colleagues leaving at Leicester.

Kelly admitted he expected to join Craig Levein, Peter Houston and Kenny Black at the exit sign because ‘that’s usually the way it happens for staff.’

What actually transpired is history but Kelly confirmed, as expected, that he would be keeping the Levein vision at the forefront of his thinking.

‘We have to cointinue what Craig started because that is what will drive the club forward,’ he said.
