Gradel enjoying Leeds loan

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has today revealed plans he may extend Leicester City winger Max Gradel’s loan spell with the club.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a successful spell with the League One club so far, making one assist and finding the net once in his three appearances to date so far. His form for the club will undoubtedly prompt Grayson to make further advances for the player, who said today: ‘Max only joined us for a month, so we’ll see what situation arises there and maybe speak with Leicester.’

Gradel has previously declared his delight at the first team football he is receiving at Elland Road, and is likely to want to extend his stay with the Whites, who currently sit top of League One.

The winger’s form and satisfaction whilst at Leeds has raised concerns amongst Leicester fans, who would not wish to see their youth academy product leave on a permanent deal in the near future. Broken promises from the Foxes have been reported by a source close to the player, and success at Elland Road could tempt Gradel into a move away from the Walkers.

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson remains an admirer of Gradel’s however, and was even reluctant to allowing the player to move out on loan in the first place. Pearson has already declared his pleasure at the move, saying: ‘I am pleased he has gone on loan for a month because it is good for him and good for us. Max has had, and will have, very limited opportunities here at the moment. That is testament to the depth of the quality we have. It is in our interests and the player’s interest to get some first-team opportunities”.

Gradel’s form has always been frustratingly erratic for Pearson’s side, and Leicester fans will be hoping that the loan move will see Gradel return a player capable of forcing his way back into the Foxes first team.
