New Leicester manager Paulo Sousa could turn to his home nation to sign Miguel Vitor from Benfica, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

Reports from Portugal suggest that Sousa could make a move for the 21-year-old centre back in a season-long loan deal.

The report suggests that sources in England believe the move to be closer than those in Portugal.

Sousa – who played for Benfica in his glittering career – is apparently aware of Vitor’s talents, and believes the young defender could adapt well to the demands of the Championship.

Vitor made his Benfica debut in 2007 at the age of 18, going on to make 20 appearances in total for As Águias.

He also has experience at international level, having been capped 15 times for the Portugal Under-21 side.
