Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been nominated for the League Championship Player of the Year Award.

The 24 year old has been nominated alongside Burnley’s Danny Ings and Leeds United’s Ross McCormack, and the winner will be announced this Sunday (March 16th).

Danny is the second Leicester player to be nominated for an Award at the event as defender Liam Moore has also been shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year category.

The Player of the Year Awards are voted for by the manager’s of the Football League clubs in each division and Drinkwater was obviously one of the top three recommendations from our opposition managers.

The blurb from the Football League about Drinkwater reads.

Danny Drinkwater (Leicester City)
It is fair to say that Danny Drinkwater has been a real driving force behind Leicester City`s bid for promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season. The 24-year-old has been an ever-present in the heart of the Foxes` midfield, his work-rate and passing ability making him a real favourite at King Power Stadium. Drinkwater is one of the Championship`s most consistent performers, as recognised by his Player of the Month award for December, and any player in the division will tell you that they have been in a game when facing up to the former Manchester United man.
