The Scottish international had damaged an ankle after he fell down the stairs before the Brighton game, but after recovering he hopes to be part of the team again to take on Watford tomorrow.

‘I just came off the second bottom stair and went over on my ankle. It was devastating and also incredibly frustrating.

‘I got a bit of stick off the lads after the accident, that’s for sure, but you get used to it being a goalie anyway.’

Speaking on the current league positioning he said:

‘We should be further up the league – there is no doubt about that.

‘Everyone is probably fed up of hearing the boys say the same thing, but we are a decent team and we should have got more points on the board. There is a real feeling here now that we are so close to turning the corner.

‘If we can get two good results back to back then that would bring a mass of confidence to the squad and kick us on to a wee run. We are not far away.

‘The boys are determined and they know that things have got to improve.’
