Davies: ‘Let me stay’

Leicester’s on-loan centre back Curtis Davies has expressed his desire to stay with the club until at least January.

Davies has impressed since joining from the Premier League outfit, but his initial one-month deal is soon to expire.

The 25-year-old says he is enjoying life at the Walkers Stadium however, and wishes to remain put to keep up his rare spell of first team football.

“I would like to stay until January and then see what happens,” he said.

“I don’t know what is going to happen at Villa and I don’t know what they want to happen.

“The main thing for me is to stay here and to be playing football rather than to go back to Villa and be sat in the stands until January. It is a no-brainer.

“Having been playing football for Leicester, to go back and not be playing would be a massive kick in the teeth.

“Hopefully, I can stay here and play a few more games until January and then see what happens.

“I told the manager (Eriksson) I would like to stay until January.

“It is just whether Villa want to do that or not. I am sure they will have no problem with that because they have four centre-halves.

“Touch wood, it will get done over the next week.”

Eriksson will undoubtedly wish to keep hold of the centre back, who has recovered from injury and will be in tomorrow’s squad to face Barnsley.

But Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier may have other ideas for the player, who is yet to feature in the Premier League for the the club this season.
