Birmingham City new signing Curtis Davies has apologised to Leicester fans after performing a U-turn on his loan move to the Walkers Stadium.

Davies looked set to link back up with Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side three days ago, before a late bid from the Blues scuppered the deal.

The former Aston Villa man had always stressed that a Premier League transfer was priority, but appeared to have put any

ther move to England’s top tier on hold with another loan switch to the Foxes.

But Alex McLeish’s late bid for the centre-back scuppered the deal, with Davies able to make the short hop across the Birmingham divide.

“I can confirm I’m officially a Birmingham City player. Sorry to all Leicester fans that feel let down, but [a] permanent move was priority.”

A lesson to be learned? Don’t put a transfer on Twitter until it’s done.

Davies never hid his desire to find another Premier League side, and at this stage of his career, a three-and-a-half year deal with Birmingham seems difficult to begrudge.

Good luck, Curtis.
