Leicester were well beaten by Charlton this afternoon at The Valley.

Manager Gary Megson picked his first team sheet in the Championship since becoming the new manager and surprised many by starting with a strikeforce of Carl Cort and Matty Fryatt upfont.

James Chambers came in for the injured Wesolowski in at the centre of midfield with Stearman replacing N’Gotty in a side that was noticeably without any recognised wingers.

Leicester started well but found themselves behind after 18 minutes, Iwelumo the scorer. On 23 minutes another summer signing, Luke Varney scored, vindicating Alan Pardews decision to start with the former Crewe forward.

After halftime Megson made his changes, although at 2 down surprisingly brought on N’Gotty and Kishishev for Hume and Sheehan. A case of closing the door after the horse has bolted and perhaps not the change that was needed chasing a 2 goal deficit.

And so it proved with match finishing 2-0. DJ Campbell came on after 62 minutes but Leicester were unable to find their first away league win.
