City Cruise Past County

Following up their previous pre-season games which they won 1-0,2-0 and 3-1, Leicester cruised to a 3-0 victory over local rivals Notts County, with goals from new signing Stephen Clemence, Iain Hume, and Matty Fryatt.

The home side were never troubled and took the lead when Clemence cooly slotted home when 1 on 1 with the keeper. Mark De’Vries nearly doubled the lead two minutes later, only to see his headed effort trickle the wrong side of the post.

At the other end County kept Leicester goalkeeper Conrad Logan on his toes with a stinging shot from the edge of the area that had to be turned around the post.

5 minutes before half time, Hume doubled Leicester’s advantage, having bin played through by transfer listed striker Mark De’Vries, he cooly rounded the advancing keeper and slot the ball into the empty net.

In the second half manager Martin Allen rang the changes, giving new signing DJ Campbell a taste of the action. Substitute Matty Fryatt completed the scoring after neat footwork and cross by Shaun Newton.

Competition winner Lee Smith won a competition to have a match day experience, which included an 89th minute substitute appearance, capped by being handed the captains armband.
