Leicester City travel to Cheshire for their first cup game of the season on Wednesday with Macclesfield Town the opponents. City have a fine recent history in the League Cup with two titles to their name in 1997 and 2000, along with a final appearance in 1999.

In recent years, Leicester have found games against lower-league opposition in cup competitions relatively straight-forward, with only the infamous Wycombe defeat in the 2001 FA Cup and a 3-1 reverse at Grimsby in the League Cup in 1997.

Leicester will be missing defender Aleksander Tunchev and midfielder Andy King, both on international duty in midweek. New men Martyn Waghorn and Dany N’Guessan will be in contention to start following goalscoring contributions from the bench against Swansea City on Saturday. Matty Fryatt may be rested as part of his return to action after complications following a hernia operation.
