Winger Marc Albrighton has called on Leicester to build on the marker we laid down against Sunderland in the opening game of the Premier League season.
Speaking to lcfc.com following the four two victory, Albrighton said that the confidence we got from that game should really see us kick on this year and he’s looking forward to doing far better himself this season as well, having set up two of the goals and scored one himself last weekend.
‘It`s a great start. It`s always great to get off to the best possible start in a Premier League season. We did that, set the tempo early on and continued that throughout the first half and even through parts of the second half too. It`s fantastic when the atmosphere is rocking and everyone is pulling together in the same direction. It`s a great feeling. We`re going to go through good and bad times this season – every side does – but if we can continue the support that goes with today`s performance, then we`ll do well by sticking together.’
Albrighton goes on to say that at the moment he hasn’t got anything to ‘complain’ about because he feels like he’s in good form, he’s getting good game time and of course – Sunderland especially – he’s enjoying it so he wants to build on that himself as well as see the club build on our start.
‘If we build on this then confidence will be high throughout the squad. Everyone will be high on confidence and we`ll push on.’
As for his own goal, he was delighted to get on the score sheet having assisted two on the day as well.
‘It was very special. It`s always nice to score a goal but that one felt good and it was one that I`ll remember. It was high tempo and very hot out there. For your first game back in that heat it was difficult. But we coped well, got off to a good start and continued that throughout the 90 minutes. Credit to the team and credit to everyone involved.’
