A Leicester side, which was largely a youthful reserve side, came away from the New Manor Ground with a 4-2 victory over Ilkeston Town on Wednesday.

City fielded a few players that will be expected to feature in the first team this season, but mostly it was a reserve side and they fell behind when Anthony Howell opened the scoring. Midway through the first half Ilkeston were two up when Howell grabbed his second of the evening.

Andy King scored with a free kick early in the second half as the City fight-back began. Eric Odhiambo spurned a chance to level things up soon after, but Billy McKay soon did make it 2-2. McKay added another to put City ahead for the first time before Levi Porter completed the comeback with City’s fourth.

Our pre-season preparations conclude on Saturday with a trip to Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace.
