Sven-Goran Eriksson has said he has the full backing of the owners and has no been given a transfer limit as the club bid to get Premiership football.

Speaking to the Leicester Mercury Eriksson explained that the desires of the board to get into the Premiership next season have led him to be given no limit on potential transfer expenditure, but he says he won’t be spending silly money or paying over the odds in his quest to take us up.

‘There is no limit at all – they want Premier League and that is it. They are very clear, I hope they back me every time, as long as I don’t go over the top. It is common sense.’

With only one year left on his contract, Eriksson knows he needs to deliver next season as for some, our final league placing can only be deemed disappointing given the backing and the players we have had at our disposal.

However, as well as spending untold millions to ensure promotion next season, Eriksson also has one eye on the long term future of the club and he knows we need to develop our own talent and be as self sustaining as we can be so we can continue to grow and improve once we finally get into top flight football.

‘As a club we have to think long term aswell, we need players who are ready now and ones for the future.’
