Leicester City Under 18’s maintained their challenge for runner-up spot in the Premier Academy Youth League Group B with a fighting 1-0 win at Cardiff on Saturday.

Ricky Muggleton’s fourth minute goal proved decisive for Steve Beaglehole’s side after what was revealed to be an especially ardous journey into Wales.

As expected Cardiff provided a strong challenge physically but Beaglehole was particularly pleased that City’s well practiced ability to challenge and cover resulted in their second successive clean sheet.

Team: Cisak, Smedley, Norval, Franklin, Mattock, Gradel, King, Wykes, Muggleton, Odihiambo (McKay 75), Chambers (Beswick 65).

In younger age-group matches against Nottingham Forest, Leicester enjoyed a clean sweep: Under 14’s won 7-2, Under 12’s won 1-0, Under 10’s won 3-0 at Leicester and the Under 11’s, 13’s and 15’s all won at Nottingham.
