The game (played behind closed doors) was a chance for some of the fringe players of the squad to impress, with Paul Dickov, Nicky Adams, Radostin Kishishev, DJ Campbell and Ashley Chambers all playing some part in the game. Right back Kerrea Gilbert managed just over 60 minutes for the Foxes as he begins his rehabilitation from a recent injury.

With striker Steve Howard suspended for this weekend’s key clash with Scunthorpe United, there was no shortage of eagerness to shine from the two forwards.

It was Campbell who grabbed the first goal of the game midway through the first half, followed by two goals from youngster Ashley Chambers, a second half substitute for Paul Dickov.

City: Cisak, Gilbert (Cox 62), Rowe-Turner, Magunda, Beswick, Gradel (Odhiambo 62),. Kishishev, Trialist, Adams (Porter 62), Campbell (McKay 46), Dickov (Chambers 46).
