With money burning a hole in Nigel Pearson’s pocket, assuming Milan Mandaric gives him some of this that we are recouping due to all our sales, Michael Nelson was being reported (by skysports.com) as being his first target.

Pearson, a defender himself in his own playing days, is looking for reinforcements in that area and the Hartlepool defender was seen as an option, however Hartlepool were quick to issue a denial on hartlepoolunited.co.uk ‘Contrary to reports, Hartlepool United have not received any official bids from Leicester City for defender Michael Nelson.
‘The club will not be making any further comment at this time.’

This was a few days ago, so maybe skysports.com were slightly premature and Hartlepool’s denial means this is a no go, not that I know a great deal about the 28-year-old anyway really.
