Nigel Pearson has called todays win a good days work as he starts his bid for promotion this season.

With expectations high ahead of the campaign, that we will finally realise our promotion ambitions, Pearson couldn’t have hoped for a better start than seeing us come out 2-0 on top of Peterborough.

Speaking to lcfc.com following the game, the boss said.

‘All in all it’s a good afternoon’s work. It’s nice to get off to a winning start, we’ve got a tough opening 10 games so it was important for us to start well. We scored the first goal at a good time and Andy King scored a very good goal to increase the lead in what was a close game. There will be a lot of tight games this season, we’ve got to make sure we do enough to win them.’

As for whether or not the win will increase expectations, Pearson added.

‘The expectation is always going to be there, but we put a lot of pressure on ourselves. Owners, players, staff, supporters 0 we all want to do it. We have no divine right and if we want to achieve it, it’s going to be hard work for us.’

No doubt Pearson is getting bored of the expectation questions now, it’s a stated aim of the board and it was the slow start that was seen to scupper that aim that lost Sven his job. Can you really manage expectations when it’s so clear what the expectation is?
