Nigel Pearson has said that today was a good outcome as we edged our nose back into the Play Off places.

Speaking to lcfc.com following the 3-2 win which put us above Bolton on goal difference, the gaffer said.

‘It was a good outcome, there’s no doubt about that. It was always going to be a tough day for us because we had to win, albeit reliant on others results, but going into today there was an outside chance and I think the players put in a really good performance under the circumstances. To come away with three points I think was a great effort.’

In other interviews to the press following the game, Pearson also said.

‘The players have to take a lot of credit for dealing with the situation today. We are a young side and we went behind after three minutes so it couldn’t have started any worse for us. But we showed a lot of desire and control to get back in the game and go in front. I tried to keep a balanced view, the players were dead on their feet. It’s quite emotional as well.’

It should be as well, the dip in form came at the worst point possible as the whole season looked like it was going to end on an anti climax and with disappointment, and that must have affeted the players so to rally as they have done in the past few games to give their all and keep us in with a shout deserved a lot of credit.

How important was that win against Bolton now!

Okay, we aren’t going into the Play Offs with confidence sky high or with great form, but we are there and having lost to Watford the other week, that should be all the motivation they need for the Semi Finals.
