Striker David Nugent has said he hopes to sit down in the New Year and discuss a new contract at the club.

The 28 year old has been at the club for two and a half years now, and his current deal expires in the summer, and he’s told the Leicester Mercury that he’s perfectly happy at the club, and he has no intention of moving away so he’d love a new long term contract to secure his future.

Talks haven’t yet taken place even on an informal basis but ‘when Christmas comes, my agent and I will sit down and talk to the gaffer and Terry Robinson and try to do a deal.’

Nugent goes on to say that although he’s still renting, if he can secure a new deal at the club he’ll be looking to buy a place especially as he has a baby now, but his main aim is ensuring that he remains a Leicester player for the next few years as he loves the quality of the lads at the club, and the coaching staff so if there’s an opportunity for him to stay, and get something sorted quickly, he’ll jump at it.
