Starting with Pearson, in a different interview with lcfc.com Pearson said it was important that we kept our momentum going now with one game left and did all we could to cap off survival with another victory when we face already relegated Queens Park Rangers in the next match.

‘It`s been a tough year, but what we`ve continued to do is believe in ourselves and made sure that we`ve done it ourselves. It`s been a fantastic run that we`ve been on, but ultimately we needed to do it. At home and away our support has been great but what we`ve got to try to do now is finish the season on a real high by enjoying the atmosphere and the occasion and by trying to finish as high as we can. That`s what we`ve got to do.’

Moving on to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, he was in front of the cameras alongside skipper Wes Morgan directly after the match and the relief and joy was clear to see on their faces as they spoke about the Sunderland draw.

‘It’s come from belief, never losing focus, never losing the belief and the energy that we put into games, just keep going, keep working, keep believing in the way we want to play football. I liken this run-in to winning the title last season, it’s sort of the same thing, You are going into every game needing points, you have to keep picking up points, and we have done that. It’s been a great run.’

For Morgan, he went on to say that he felt the side has proved a lot of people wrong this year.

‘I’m delighted. We heard the other results by the crowd cheering and we just had to keep calm. It’s a great result. If you look at two months ago – to finally be safe, I’m absolutely delighted. A lot of people wrote us off and I’m delighted for all the boys. We feel like we proved a lot of people wrong.’

As many can imagine Gary Lineker was quite happy as well this weekend.
