Matty Fryatt – Leicester: PFA Interview We’re back on track, says Foxes hero Fryatt

Leicester’s Matty Fryatt is among the top strikers in League One as he bids to fire the Foxes back into the Championship but insists there is more to come from him this season. On Saturday, Leicester faced
against Bristol Rovers at the Walkers Stadium and Fryatt grabbed two goals in a frantic final five minutes to give City a much-needed win and put them within sight of the top of the table. For once, Rovers’
15-goal marksman Rickie Lambert didn’t find the net as Fryatt outshone his Pirates’ rival with two of the division’s big-hitters going head-to-head. However, Fryatt admires Lambert and reckons the pair will be figuring at the top of the goalscoring charts this season.

Givemefootball.com’s Ian Clarkson spoke to Fryatt after his last-gasp rescue act that gave Leicester their first win in a month and found the striker in pragmatic mood.

THAT WAS A GREAT RESULT FOR YOU WASN’T AFTER FIVE GAMES WITHOUT A WIN?

Maybe yes, but it certainly wasn’t a great game, but it’s the result that matters and we got three points. They took the lead with a really good goal; I wouldn’t say it was against the run of play as we didn’t
create that many chances. There wasn’t a lot between the two teams. I thought it was going to be one of those days but fortunately for us, I managed to score two goals.

HOW AWARE WERE YOU THAT THIS WAS SEEN AS A BATTLE OF THE STRIKERS – YOU VERSUS RICKIE LAMBERT?

If people are building it up like that then it’s nice to be seen as a player capable of scoring goals. Rickie’s right up there with 15 so fair play to him; that’s a brilliant achievement to have done that already. But I’m not putting myself up against Rickie, I was up against the Bristol Rovers defence and to be fair they were solid and were unlucky to lose out. We’ll take that though.

YOU PROBABLY WON’T SAY WHAT YOUR TARGETS ARE FOR THIS SEASON BUT YOU MUST BE PLEASED WITH YOUR RETURN OF 12 GOALS SO FAR IN THE LEAGUE?
